February - Red Wine and Chocolate Event
Two Weekends!
During two weekends in February - the 11th & 12th and the 18th -20th - Whidbey Island’s finest wineries will host the annual Whidbey Is. Vintners Association Red Wine and Chocolate Tour. Those who participate in the tour will receive a souvenir wine glass from the Vintner group and visit the six or more participating wineries to sample wonderful wines, including some of the award winning red wines produced here, and perhaps some of the finest chocolate creations. Each winery will choose a chocolate treat for their guests to pair specifically with the wines chosen. A couple of the venues offer live music during the event weekend as well.
Each year hundreds of wine lovers visit the Island to participate in the Red Wine & Chocolate Tour. Last year the event was split between two weekends to better accommodate the crowds, and since it proved to be a success the tradition continues.
Whidbey Island boasts scenic pastoral and water views and by ways and boasts many local Bed & Breakfasts or small Inns for visitors to stay at. Each of the small towns has many food establishments that offer fare that ranges from wood fired pizza and pubs to fine gourmet dining. And, of course, wine. Check the local restaurant to see if they either offer the local wines or will allow you to bring in a bottle to enjoy with your meal.
